Remote medic

This course is intended for individuals working in remote and/or politically unstable areas. Participants are instructed in the proper methods of treating injuries. When trauma occurs, it is often the simplest procedures that determine the victim’s chances of survival and aid long term recovery.

Most non-Western countries lack medical facilities of the standard available in the Netherlands. The pre-hospitalisation phase - the gap between injury and access to higher level medical care - is of vital importance and must be used to maximum advantage. In traumatology, the ‘golden hour’ is the period of time that determines the victim’s chances of survival and recovery.

The theory component of the course covers a range of injuries; we can determine what the specific risks are for your organisation. Participants learn how to work with medical equipment specially designed for providing treatment during the pre-hospitalisation phase.

Practical training sessions feature one or more LOTUS (simulated) patients and participants have ample opportunity to practice the procedures they have been taught.

Special Medics can teach the course at any location in the world and in various languages.
