NAR HYPOTHERMIA PREVENTION AND MANAGEMENT KIT (HPMK)
Recommended by CoTCCC for the prevention of hypothermia during casualty care, the patented HPMK with enhanced Heat Reflective Shell (HRS) is strong, flexible, lightweight, and impervious to wind and rain. The robust outer shell of the HRS is constructed of a 4-ply composite fabric with a protected non-conductive reflective layer that provides excellent thermal insulation. (This fabric was deliberately chosen as metals used in other products on the market can conduct heat away.)
Rapid 360° access to the casualty with minimal exposure to the elements is achieved through the use of continuous 1.5-inch hook and loop closures located along the perimeter of the covering. The HRS also features a built-in hood, an absorbent fluid pad, and a top-to-bottom tapered shape to maximize isothermal capabilities. The 4-panel Ready Heat Blanket serves as the heat-generating source in the HPMK; the RH4 is a self-heating, oxygen-activated shell liner designed to sustain 10 hours of continuous dry heat (no external power supply required). This compact package is vacuum-packaged in a rugged, flexible pouch with red markings indicating where the HPMK should be opened.
